We had a Scot admitted to the Koldinghus Order

Once again, a small, cheerful chapter was written in the history of Denmark’s only popular Order, as the membership admission took place with both solemnity, warm smiles and an appropriate amount of throat-clearing liquids.

Among the candidates were familiar faces from the local area, but also a Danish-American and a genuine Scot with solid family ties to Kolding. As tradition dictates, the membership admission was kicked off with fanfare and later bagpipes were played, which could be heard far beyond the cadasters. The Scotsman lit up like a freshly polished whiskey bottle when they were told about the old and close connections between Scotland and Denmark.

The atmosphere was high, the spirits even higher, and candidates slipped through the needle’s eye and were admitted with both dignity and a wet palate.
